$1000 Blessing
As I wrote my last entry, the Universe was bestowing a blessing on me that was worth about $1000 to me. This is another example of how quickly you can see results when you change what you believe.
To tell you the story, I need to go back about 25 years.
When I was a kid in college, I had a general interest in "mind powers" such as hypnosis and psychic abilities. Of course, I had other interests too, such as computers, playing guitar, roller skating, and (need I mention it?) girls.
Anyways, one day, my girlfriend at the time needed my help picking up a new mattress from the store. When she asked for my help, I had a "gut feeling" that it wasn't a good idea for me to be driving that day. She was okay driving herself, and said she just needed my help in strapping the mattress to the roof of her car.
While we were at the store, she asked me to pull the car around the block so the mattress could be loaded onto it. Although I had a "feeling" that it wasn't a good idea, I hadn't yet learned to trust that feeling, and went ahead.
As I was making a left turn, on what appeared to be a completely empty road, an elderly woman tried to pass me on the left side, hitting me as she went by. I should have left my car right where it was to prove I was in the turn lane when it happened, but at that time, I thought it was more important to get the car out of the way of whatever traffic may come by as we waited for the police to arrive and document the 'accident'.
Needless to say, she lied about where my car was at the time and how fast she was going. And since I was the "young kid", I was the one to get the ticket.
I forget the details, but the result of all this was that my driver's license in Illinois was suspended 'indefinitely' or until I paid the court a sum of around $1000.
This was only 1 part of the whole "falling apart" experience I had at that time. It wasn't long before I dropped out of college and moved back with my parents, who lived in Kentucky at that time. From there, I drifted to St. Louis, Indianapolis, and then Kansas City, Missouri.
It was several years before I had another driver's license, partly because it was several years before I could 'afford' a car. While I was in Kentucky, I tried getting a driver's license there, but they wouldn't do it because of the situation in Illinois. Missouri didn't have a problem with it, so when I applied for a license there, everything was okay. And when I moved to Michigan, I was able to get a license here too.
Recently, I found out that Michigan would no longer renew my driver's license because of the situation with my Illinois license. For a while, I considered how I might approach the situation.
And then, last weekend, I read through a couple of older books which helped me realize I still had some limiting beliefs. After reading them and deciding to change what I believed, opening myself up to receiving gifts from the Universe, and understanding that I did not need to "attract money" before the old debt could be wiped out.
Even so, my wife & I decided to just take care of it, whatever the cost. On Monday, as I was writing about my new perspective, Linda got on the phone to find out what needed to be done. (Although I told her I would take care of it after sending out the email, she wanted to get right to it.)
After several phone calls, she came up to my office and reported that Illinois has technically released the requirement, and that all we needed to do was pay 2 different processing fees and get some paperwork filed, and the matter would be solved. She also found out that in October 2009, the matter would quietly disappear on it's own.
From there, she placed another call to the Michigan people and got someone to remove the restriction from my file, so the whole matter was cleared up that day.
So, not only was the matter cleared up without having to spend $1000, but it has also given me more proof of the power of belief, showing us that the Universe will make things better for us than we can usually imagine.
Amazing, isn't it?
