First Set of Edits Done

For those who have been anxiously waiting for the new book to come out, I can report that I've gotten the manuscript back from my primary editor (Toni Edson) and have implemented a large portion of the suggestions she's made.

Yes, there were a few typos and grammatical errors, however not nearly as many as I expected to get back.  (Must have been my belief that I write well that kept those at bay.)  Most of the suggestions she made were about adding extra information here and there to better explain what I was writing about for an audience that isn't as familiar with the concepts.

She also made a few comments that indicated that I had not explained a few things as well as I should, and I took her comments as a guide to improve the content.

So, I've added a few things, improved a few things, and polished the rest.  I went through to insure consistency with formatting and usage, and things like that.

I'm feeling really good about the result of all this expert attention, and feel that this book is good enough for the Big Time.  Who knows, maybe even Oprah will take a look and give it a thumbs up.

A few months ago, I was feeling that the book may NEED a few high-level endorsements in order to gain attention in the book trade (ie. bookstores), however I'm now feeling much more confident in it, so I'm not as concerned about getting people like Oprah, Wayne Dyer, James Arthur Ray, Esther & Jerry Hicks, Ray Dodd, Gregg Braden, or any of the other mainstream authors to give their endorsement to the book.

I'll still submit a review copy to those folks and request an endorsement if they feel inclined to do so.  For this reason, I'll print up a smaller number to start with, and then print up a larger number after I get a few endorsements.

This weekend, I'm going through my copy of John Kremer's "1001 Ways to Market Your Books" to map out a promotional plan and make sure I haven't forgotten any major ideas.

At this time, I'm planning on an approach that looks like this:

  1. Send out review copies to top authors in my field for endorsements.
  2. More review copies to the publications that review books for bookstores and libraries.
  3. Submit fresh, new articles (still to be written) to various publications to be published near the time of the official publication date of the book (June).
  4. Create and send out media kits to various publications (online and off) with a review copy of the book to arrange interviews to gain further exposure.
  5. Contact several book clubs to suggest my new book as a featured book.
  6. Contact corporations that use books as sales premiums to offer my book as a good option for their programs.
  7. Start doing live workshops based on the book's content, record those, and create multi-media products to sell along with the book.
  8. Create a line of Belief Entrainment recordings to give people a quick, easy set of tools to change their beliefs.

There's a lot of work involved with all this, and I'm prepared to give it my full attention.  What started out as a quick project to add another income stream has taken off on it's own and become the foundation for a much larger career path.

I'm excited!

Another thing I have to do is get with the group that were planning the workshops in Australia / New Zealand and find out if they're still planning that.  I haven't heard a word about that project from any of the group for months and I'm starting to wonder if maybe this is something I'll be doing on my own.
